So far, the university administration has not issued a detailed statement regarding the incident.

A student at a university in Sonipat, Haryana, was caught attempting to bring a girl—reportedly his girlfriend—into the boys’ hostel by hiding her inside a large suitcase. The incident, captured on video and shared widely on social media, has raised questions about campus security and student conduct.

The footage shows the student trying to wheel a large trolley bag into the hostel. Security guards are seen stopping him and unzipping the suitcase, revealing a girl curled up inside. The video was reportedly recorded by another student present at the scene. However, Moneycontrol.com could not independently verify the authenticity of these claims.

It remains unclear how university staff became aware of the situation. Some unverified reports suggest the girl may have screamed when the suitcase hit a bump or stair, alerting security personnel. The girl’s identity has not been disclosed, and it is not confirmed whether she is a student at the university or from outside the campus.

So far, the university administration has not issued a detailed statement regarding the incident. However, speaking to India Today, the university’s Public Relations Officer said, “Our students were just being mischievous, and because our security is tight, the student was caught. It’s not a big deal. Our security is always strict, and no one has filed any sort of complaint regarding the matter.”

The video quickly went viral sparking a range of reactions on social media. Many users responded with humour, while others expressed concern over the lengths students go to in order to bypass hostel restrictions.

“The suitcase brand should use this for advertising,” one user posted on X. Another commented, “They must have thought and planned so much around it and felt so smart doing so.”

Several users pointed out the strict rules that govern student life in India, with one writing, “The lengths that people need to go to just to get some private time with their loved ones in this country because of all the restrictions is so dehumanising.”

A few also referenced similar incidents, including one reported in 2022 at the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka, where a student attempted to sneak in his girlfriend using a suitcase. A user wrote, “This reminds me of the Manipal case. A student at the Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka, tried to sneak his girlfriend into his hostel by using a suitcase. However, he was caught by the hostel caretaker, who became suspicious of the bulging suitcase.”
