LBT Amnesty

This is an EY Tax Alert on the Amnesty Scheme for Local Body Tax (LBT) as notified by the Urban Development Department, on the instructions of the Maharashtra State Government.  LBT was introduced in a phased manner in various Municipal Corporations across Maharashtra (except Mumbai). It is levied on the entry of goods into the municipal limits for consumption, use or sale (in lieu of Octroi and cess). As per the Amnesty Scheme, penalty and interest on accumulated dues of LBT will be waived, subject to fulfilment of conditions, such as registration, payment of tax and filing of returns etc. The Scheme comes into force from 3 June 2015 and is valid till 31 July 2015
