As millions across India stepped out to celebrate Holi with colour and music, Google CEO Sundar Pichai also embraced his roots. The tech leader joined the festivities online, sharing a message.

In a post shared on Instagram, Pichai wished people a ‘Happy Holi’. He also shared a striking photograph taken by a Mumbai-based photographer, drawing warm responses from users around the world.

The image shows the true spirit of Holi in a simple yet powerful way. In the centre of the frame, a person throws coloured powder high into the air. A large cloud of bright pink gulal spreads across the scene, almost covering everything below. Above the colour, the sky looks clear and blue, creating a strong contrast.

The mix of pink against the open sky makes the moment feel lively and full of joy. It reflects how Holi is celebrated outdoors, with people coming together to throw colours, laugh freely and welcome the spring season with happiness.

Interestingly, the picture shared by Pichai was taken by a Mumbai-based photographer, Prajay Katkoria. “A celebration of colour, community, and new beginnings. Happy Holi to all! Incredible shot by @prajai_k taken on Pixel 8 Pro,” Google CEO captioned the accompanying photo.

Katkoria responded to the Google chief’s praise in the comments section, writing, “Means a lot, Sundar Pichai sir! Happy Holi to everyone.”

The exchange quickly drew attention. Many users praised the photograph, calling it powerful and well-timed, while others responded with festive greetings.

Holi, also known as Rangawali Holi or Dhulandi, is celebrated across India on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Phalgun. The evening before is marked by Holika Dahan, when bonfires are lit to symbolise the victory of good over evil. The following day, people gather in streets, parks and homes to throw coloured powders, splash water, share sweets and spend time with family and friends.
