Sugandh Sharma apologies for Bengaluru-North Indians reels: 'I love each and every language'

The digital creator also tagged Bengaluru Police in her apology reel on Instagram. The development comes after she was slammed on social media, pro-Kannada groups visited her office in Koramangala, and filed a complaint against her at the Koramangala police station on Monday.

Bengaluru-based digital creator Sugandh Sharma has apologised after her reels claiming that it would be the city's loss if North Indian migrants moved out caused widespread outrage on social media and even led to pro-Kannada activists visiting her employer's office to demand strict action against her.

In a reel shared late on Monday, Sharma said: "Hi guys, I recently made a few reels which hurt the sentiments of a lot of people; it was never my intention. I never want anyone to get hurt or to think that I do not respect other languages and cultures. I apologise from the bottom of my heart. I am sorry. I love each and every language and culture of India, I respect everybody and all I want is your love... so sorry."

Sharma also tagged Bangalore Police in the reel and deleted the offending video.

The development comes after Sharma -- who had moved to the city three years ago -- was slammed on social media by citizens and Bengaluru-based celebrities and influencers for her remarks. Pro-Kannada groups had also visited her office in Koramangala and filed a complaint against her at the Koramangala police station on Monday.

Activist Rupesh Rajanna said in a post on X that he and others visited Sharma's workplace on Monday, demanding strict action against her.

"We have been visiting Sugandha Sharma's office over the last two days to seek information about her and talked to the officials there," Rajanna wrote in a "victory for Kannadigas" post. He also said that a complaint has been filed against her at the Koramangala police station on behalf of Yukave Youth Group. "Action must be taken against her," Rajanna added.

In the now-deleted video, addressing the locals in Bengaluru, Sharma had said: "You guys keep saying: 'you northies go back,' if we all really leave Bengaluru, your city would become empty," she said in the reel. "First, your PGs (paying guest accommodations) would become vacant, you won't get the money you are earning now, all the clubs in Koramangla would become empty. All the pretty girls you see dancing to Punjabi music in these clubs won't be seen anymore. You guys should think before you talk. In case your wish does come true, Bengaluru would lose all its glamour."
