Sudha Murty is the author of several beloved children’s stories that have now been adapted into an animate show called ‘Story Time with Sudha Amma.’ Produced by Aparna Krishnan, 'Story Time with Sudha Amma', will be launched in 6 languages on YouTube starting October 31.
Sudha Murty herself appeared in a promotional video for the animated series. In the video, Murty, 73, said that she wanted her readers to enjoy the company of the characters she has created, and so she allowed the transformation of her stories into an animated show for children.
“All these characters I have written for you, they come into my mind, they talk to me,” said the founder of Infosys Foundation. “Some of them are naughty, some are very brave, some are scared. But I have enjoyed their company – not you, because they are not animated, they are only in books,” Murty continued.
“I want to bring them alive to show you what colour dress they wear, how naughty they are, how brave they are,” she said.
“My mother, Sudha Murty, is among the leading authors of children's books in India. Encouraged by thousands of letters and emails from children and their parents over the past few years, my mother agreed to lend her stories to an animated series for children,” he wrote.
'Story Time with Sudha Amma' will launch in six languages on October 31 - English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil. Stories and characters from Murty's books like 'The Magic Drum and Other Favorite Stories' and 'Grandma's Bag of Stories', among others, are expected to feature on the animated show.
