The CEO of Springworks says that the HR-technology startup offers remote work to its employees not because it is cost-effective for the company, but because it affords them better quality of life. As justification for this argument, Kartik Mandaville revealed that Springworks spent Rs 40 lakh hosting its employees for an offsite in Jaipur, Rajasthan in September. The weekend spent in Jaipur was the company’s third such offsite.
In a post shared on the microblogging platform X, Springworks CEO Kartik Mandaville revealed that the total cost of their offsite came to Rs 4,085,698. “Talking about it to show how we're not remote to simply save money! We're remote to offer a better quality of life - a life where work is just a part of it,” he wrote.

Springworks announced its remote-first future on May 6, 2020 – shortly after the world went into lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The offsite allows employees to meet in person after working together virtually. In earlier posts, Mandaville has also shared other benefits of working from home – including reduced exposure to pollution and more time for family.
Springworks employees spent a weekend at the Jaipur Marriott Hotel last month for their offsite, according to a Linkedin post shared by the startup. The company planned events like a gala night, games and team bonding exercises – “As a remote company, these days offered us a chance to connect on a personal level, moving beyond our usual Slack conversations.”
