Consumer appliances startup EDT has come out of stealth with a $1.4 million pre-seed funding round led by Sauce VC, marking founder Naiyya Saggi’s return to the consumer space after exiting beauty and personal care unicorn Good Glamm Group.
Who are the investors backing EDT?
The round also saw participation from Consumer Collective and Peak XV’s Spark Grant, along with a clutch of prominent startup founders, operators and industry veterans. These include CaratLane founder Mithun Sacheti, Noise co-founder Amit Khatri, Urban Company co-founder Varun Khaitan, Mokobara founders Sangeet and Naveen, Ultrahuman co-founder Vatsal, Servify co-founder Sreevathsa, and Vahdam India founder Bala Sarda.
Other backers include Sameer Khetarpal (Jubilant, former Amazon India head), Dixon Technologies vice chairman Arun Sheth, Cyient executive vice chairman Krishna Bodanapu, Reckitt India managing director Arjun Purkayastha, Apoorv Patni of Patni Enterprises, DSP Family Office’s Shuchi Kothari, ICICI Ventures partner Tej Kapoor, Nikhil Bhandarkar of Panthera Peak and the MS Dhoni Family Office, and Bhupen Wakankar, former head of Amazon Cross Border India.
What does EDT do?
Founded in 2025 by Saggi and industrial designer Vyasateja Rao, EDT (Everyday Design & Technology) is positioning itself as a design- and R&D-led consumer appliances brand spanning home, kitchen and personal care categories. The company aims to build contemporary, multifunctional devices using “better-for-you” materials such as low-EMF components and BPA-free plastics, targeted at modern households.
How will the fresh capital be used?
The newly raised capital will be deployed towards building EDT’s innovation-led product pipeline, setting up a robust R&D- and design-driven process, and hiring senior talent across India and global markets. The company is also advancing its broader product roadmap, with select devices across home, kitchen and personal care categories set to go live through preorder and waitlist drops between January and February.
“At EDT, we believe everyday devices deserve far more than functional upgrades—they deserve to be reimagined for the way people truly live today,” Saggi said in a statement. “This pre-seed round enables us to lay a strong foundation for our innovation-led product pipeline, establish a rigorous R&D and design process, and begin working closely with the emerging tech and manufacturing ecosystem in India.”
What are the founders’ backgrounds?
Saggi is best known as a co-founder of Good Glamm Group, which built a portfolio of digital-first beauty and personal care brands including MyGlamm, Sirona and BabyChakra. She exited the company after completing her vesting period last year. Rao, EDT’s co-founder and chief design officer, previously founded industrial design studio Analogy and brings experience across consumer tech, industrial design and global manufacturing ecosystems in the US, Europe and Asia.
What is the investor thesis?
Sauce VC managing partner Manu Chandra said EDT is one of the firm’s larger pre-seed, pre-revenue bets. “Indian consumers are increasingly prioritising design, quality and functionality in the products they bring into their homes. EDT combines that shift with founders who have built high-trust consumer brands and understand global hardware execution,” he said.
What’s next for the company?
EDT plans to launch first in India before expanding into international markets such as the GCC and the US, as it looks to build a global consumer appliances brand from India, backed by a design-led and R&D-focused approach.
