The owner of Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta, on Friday announced that she will not be able to physically attend the IPL 2022 mega auction on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
Zinta, who welcomed twins Jai and Gita in November, said she would not be able to "leave the little ones and travel to India". The actor stays with her family in Los Angeles.
She, however, reached out to fans and asked for suggestions regarding the players Punjab Kings should go for in the IPL 2022 auction. "The last couple of days have been hectic discussing the auction all all things cricket with our team. I wanted to reach out to our fans and ask them if they have any player suggestions," Preity Zinta tweeted.

While fans responded with disappointment over not being able to see Zinta in action at the auction, they did not hold back from sending their recommendations.
"I'll miss seeing you at the auctions but I'm sure you must have given your player preferences to the selection team who're going to be present tomorrow. I hope PBKS get some amazing players possible, specially great middle order batters," tweeted Tejan Shrivastava who uses the handle @RealBeingTeJan.
Another Twitter user RDK who goes by @Goatcheeku_18 said, "IPL auction won't be the same without you."

The announcement also opened the meme gate as Zinta has in the past participated enthusiastically in bidding wars during IPL auctions. In 2021, she bought Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan for Rs 5.25 crore after an explosive bidding war. Khan's base price was Rs 20 lakh.
The businesswoman and actor was then caught on camera doing a happy jig and saying to the opposing team and said, “We have acquired Shahrukh Khan”.
