A non-resident Indian who previously lived in Canada has described his recovery from severe financial distress, including bankruptcy-level debt, to achieving a reported net worth of approximately Rs 26 crore by the age of 29.
In a post shared on Reddit, the individual, who said he was born in Delhi and later moved abroad, claimed that he was once burdened with debts of $30,000 (around 27.12 lakh). He stated that he currently resides in Florida and has accumulated significant wealth following years of financial hardship.
According to the post, the man moved from Delhi to Canada at the age of 17 to pursue education and employment opportunities. He wrote that he grew up in Delhi in what he described as a broken family and was raised by his maternal grandparents. He added that his early years abroad were marked by instability and limited financial support.
While living in Canada, he said he took up door-to-door sales work, describing the role as physically demanding. “In Canada, I worked door-to-door sales and really learned about sales and communication from that job. It was very hard knocking doors in -20 degrees Celsius weather with a blizzard on top, if you know you know how Canada is in winters. I struggled and did what I had to,” he wrote.
Despite continued work, the Reddit user said his finances deteriorated further. He claimed that by the age of 23, he had accumulated debts of more than Rs 2 lakh and was close to what he described as “literal bankruptcy”. He also acknowledged losing his remaining savings through futures trading and day trading, attributing the losses to lack of experience.

Reflecting on that period, he wrote: “At 24, I was overweight, broke and quite frankly in very terrible condition. There would be nights I couldn’t sleep thinking about responsibilities, but the best thing about being in that situation is you can’t go lower than that.”
The post stated that his financial situation began to change after he shifted his focus to content creation. He said he started producing content on platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, and used artificial intelligence tools to improve production quality and reach. “At 25, this got me my first 10 lakh months all pure profit,” he wrote.
He added that after suffering losses in trading, he avoided equity investments and instead reinvested his earnings into other ventures. “Never bought stocks. All my investments were either commodities like gold/silver and crypto,” he stated, adding that he also invested in vending, AI-related projects and rental businesses.
According to the Reddit account, a major breakthrough came when he sold one of his rental businesses for $3 million, which he estimated to be approximately Rs 27 crore.
The individual said he decided to share his experience publicly to encourage others facing financial difficulty. “I want to share my story to give hope because when I didn’t have any, I never gave up and still believed,” he wrote. He added that he now lives in Florida and considers his circumstances stable, while remaining cautious about financial security.
“Now I am 29, live in Florida, and life’s pretty good. I am still humble because I come from lower than being broke and know that all I have today, all I can lose and to someone who has nothing, only they can gain everything,” the post concluded.
