A post on social media by a woman demanding a delivery executive of a specific religion has triggered widespread criticism online, with many users accusing her of promoting communal bias.
The controversy began after an X user identified as Pooja Tiwari shared a screenshot of a Blinkit delivery order that displayed the name of the delivery partner, Mohammed. Tagging Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, she made a request that quickly went viral and drew sharp reactions.
In her post, Tiwari wrote, “Request to the CEO/Owner of Blinkit, @albinder. When we place an order, please arrange only a Hindu delivery boy for us. We do not want to receive items from anyone involved in acts like spitting or other unhygienic behavior. This is a matter of cleanliness and trust. Kindly look into this.”
Post gets massive backlash on social media
The post spread rapidly across the platform, prompting a strong backlash from many users who criticised the request as discriminatory.
On the contrary, Pooja. Customers of Blinkit should not be able to see actual names of delivery staff so they are protected from bigots like you. pic.twitter.com/T1MqFk8S2Z— Ashish K. Mishra (@akm1410) March 7, 2026
Several commenters also raised concerns about the safety and privacy of gig workers. One user argued that platforms should stop displaying the real names of delivery partners to protect them from prejudice. “Customers of Blinkit should not be able to see the actual names of delivery staff so they are protected from bigots like you,” the user wrote.
Another person shared a personal experience with a delivery worker observing the Ramadan fast and said such incidents show why online abuse against gig workers is problematic. The user suggested that companies should consider assigning anonymous or platform-based names to delivery partners to prevent targeted harassment.
Some users framed the issue as one of constitutional values. One post said the demand violated the spirit of Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, which prohibits discrimination based on religion. The user also urged Blinkit to take action against the account that made the request.
Others questioned the logic behind asking for a delivery partner based on religion. One user said that if someone is concerned about the religion of a delivery worker, the same logic would apply to the entire food supply chain. “How do you know the food you ordered was prepared only by Hindus? The chef, helpers, restaurant staff, do you check their religion too?” the user asked.
