Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during his official visit to India, was seen singing the classic Bollywood song "Dost Dost Na Raha" at a farewell ceremony held at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi. This marked his first visit to India since taking office in 2022.

The 77-year-old leader was in India on a state visit from August 19 to 21. The farewell event, organised by the Taj Mahal Hotel, captured Ibrahim’s impromptu performance of the 1964 Mukesh classic, reflecting his admiration for Bollywood music.

“It was a pleasure to witness Honourable Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim showcasing his love for Bollywood music during his farewell ceremony at the iconic Taj Mahal, New Delhi,” the Taj Mahal Hotel shared on social media, along with a video of the performance.

According to a report by the Times of India, the Bollywood-themed farewell was specially organised by the hotel after Ibrahim expressed his fondness for Hindi cinema and actor Shammi Kapoor. The video has since garnered significant attention on social media, with many praising the Prime Minister’s singing abilities and the hotel’s thoughtful gesture.

One user remarked, “It appears that the PM is a good singer,” while another added, “Wow! The depth in his voice. Truly amazing!”

"Nice to see music conquering many barriers," a third user added.

Ibrahim’s three-day visit commenced on Monday night. On Tuesday, he held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on resetting bilateral ties that had experienced strain during the tenure of former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Additionally, Ibrahim met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the same day.
