A Korean family living in India recently shared an experience that went beyond typical tourist activities. Visiting Dhobi Ghat is a common stop for foreign visitors who want to see something unique in Mumbai. But in this case, a mother took her children there to show them what real hard work looks like.

Their Instagram page, @wonny_brothers, usually features posts about Indian experiences and travel. This time, the focus was on teaching the children about labour and respect for work.

The video clip shows two young children observing workers at Dhobi Ghat, one of Mumbai’s largest open-air laundries. The workers, known as dhobis, clean clothes manually, soaking, scrubbing, rinsing, and beating them against stones. After watching closely, the children try washing clothes themselves, while their mother stands nearby and joins in the activity.

The caption of the post reads, “Korean kids at Dhobi Ghat. Trying real Indian life, Dhobi Ghat. Real work, real respect.”

Dhobi Ghat in Mumbai is more than a tourist attraction. Operating since the 19th century, it is considered one of the largest outdoor laundries in the world. Thousands of garments, including hotel linens, hospital sheets, and everyday clothes, are cleaned, dried, and ironed there each day. For the workers and their families, the ghat is both a workplace and a way of life.

The video has attracted thousands of views, likes, and many viewers appreciated the lesson in hard work and respect. Netizens were quick to praise the mother for taking her children to Dhobi Ghat and showing them the effort behind this daily work.

One user commented, “It’s a life lesson from parents to children. Not to be taken lightly, it might look like, just for reels.” To that, the mother replied, “Yes, we learned many things.” Another user reacted by saying they were inspired, “Introducing this to my daughter.”
