A video recorded at high-altitude Fotu La Pass has triggered strong public outrage after a man from was seen defacing an official Border Roads Organisation (BRO) milestone. The clip, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man pasting a ‘Gurjar’ sticker on the milestone and posing for the camera. The incident has been widely criticised as vandalism.

The incident occurred at Fotu La, also known as Fotula Top, situated on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway at an elevation of 13,479 feet. The pass is one of the key landmarks in Ladakh and is maintained by the Border Roads Organisation, a government body under the Ministry of Defence responsible for building and maintaining roads in remote and strategic regions.

In the viral video, the man is seen approaching a BRO milestone and sticking a ‘Gurjar’ label on it. After pasting the sticker, he smiles at the camera while the person recording pans towards his vehicle. The car’s registration number is clearly visible, which has led many social media users to demand that authorities identify the individual and take action.

The clip was later shared on X with a caption that read, “He went to a height of 13,479 feet to show the world how big of an idiot he is."

Several users pointed out that landmarks such as Fotu La are not meant to be used for personal publicity or social media content. One user urged authorities to act, saying, “Hope police identify him, take him back to stay a month cleaning all BRO road signs as punishment. Without his vehicle and friends (sic).”

Another user wrote, “He must be penalised, and the cost should be recovered from him for defacing the board.”

Others focused on the lack of civic responsibility displayed in the video. One comment read, “Peak height-zero class. Not a ‘Thar owner’ problem. It’s a 'no respect, no civic sense' problem. Don’t drag an entire group for one idiot chasing attention at 13,000 ft. Altitude went up. Brain stayed at sea level.”

Another user expressed, “The real enemy of India is Indians themselves. He is smiling while destroying the sanctity of something people take pride in. Civic sense in such individuals can only be learned through strict legal actions.”
