'Staying calm doesn’t mean you’re unaffected. It means you’re in control,' Harsh Goenka said.

RPG Group chairperson Harsh Goenka has recently offered a personal insight into his leadership philosophy, revealing that he always maintained composure in the workplace. In a recent post on X, Goenka shared that he has "never shouted or raised my voice at anyone" throughout his career, a fact in which he takes "quiet pride."

Goenka acknowledged that he, like anyone, experiences moments of "anger, disappointment, and frustration." However, he firmly believes that losing cool at workplaces doesn't help.

"In all my years at work, I’ve never shouted or raised my voice at anyone- and I take quiet pride in that. Of course, I’ve had moments of anger, disappointment, and frustration. But I’ve learned that losing your temper doesn’t help," he wrote.

For the veteran industrialist, "Staying calm doesn’t mean you’re unaffected. It means you’re in control." He concluded his reflection by asserting that "Grace under pressure- that, to me, is the true mark of leadership."

When an X user asked Goenka if staying cool later takes a toll on him, the RPG Group chairperson said it didn't.

Other X users appeared to laud his take.

"This is undoubtedly an amazing quality," commented Chaitanya Nagar (@chait_nagar). "I hardly know anybody who is rich, successful and yet so calm. One needs a profound insight to realize that losing one’s temper doesn’t help. It’s a gift. Rare gift at that."

Another user Anooshka Soham Bathwal (@anooshkabathwal) said, "This resonates deeply. Keeping calm isn’t about suppressing emotions, it’s about choosing how to channel them. That distinction makes all the difference, especially when the pressure’s on."

Curating for growth
In another insightful tweet, Goenka shared his perspective on professional and personal development, advising that to truly grow, one should "Don’t just hustle -- curate." He also urged individuals to "Curate the people you talk to, the books you read, the rooms you enter." Goenka emphasised the profound impact of one's environment, noting, "You absorb the energy of the rooms you sit in, online and offline. Spend time with those who help your growth."
