Google has marked the commencement of the Summer Olympic Games 2024 with a creative and interactive doodle on its homepage. This year, the Summer Olympics are being hosted in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
The search giant’s homepage now features a vibrant artwork depicting animals participating in various summer sports. Clicking on the doodle redirects users to search results related to the latest updates on the Paris Olympics 2024.
The Olympics officially starts on Friday with an opening ceremony on the Seine River, which flows through Paris. The closing ceremony, featuring a parade of flags and athletes, is scheduled for August 11.
Preliminary rounds in archery, soccer, handball, and rugby began two days prior to the opening ceremony, on July 24. The event will feature 117 Indian athletes competing in 69 events across various disciplines. Notable Indian athletes include javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, badminton stars PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty, as well as weightlifter Mirabai Chanu.
Following the opening ceremony, the Indian men's hockey team will play their first pool game against New Zealand on Saturday, July 27. Other events starting on the same day include badminton, boxing, shooting, and table tennis.
The event will be broadcast on Sports 18 and the Viacom 18 network, and will also be live-streamed on the JioCinema app free of charge.
