Speculation online that a US hotel has filed a $1 million lawsuit against a travel influencer for washing her underwear in a hotel room coffee machine remains unverified. The rumours erupted after Tara Woodcox’s old “travel hack” video resurfaced on social media, sparking outrage and renewed speculation about legal action — but no court records or hotel statements support the claim, IBTimes UK reported.

The controversy began when Woodcox’s video — showing her placing underwear in a hotel coffeemaker’s filter basket, running the brew cycle and drying the garment with a hairdryer — went viral again. The influencer said she learned the method from a flight‑attendant friend.

The clip drew widespread criticism over hygiene concerns, with many users calling the act “disgusting” and questioning the safety of shared hotel appliances. The video also rekindled long‑running debates about how thoroughly coffee makers are cleaned between guests.

But as the video circulated, several accounts on X began claiming that a hotel had sued Woodcox for $1 million, alleging costs linked to guest complaints, refunds and replacing coffee machines. The viral posts offered no evidence, and no such court filing was found.

No lawsuit filed, no hotel statement

According to IBTimes UK, no publicly available legal filing, docket entry or official announcement shows that any hotel chain has taken legal action against Woodcox. The report notes that although the story has spread widely across social media, there is no confirmation that a lawsuit exists.

Media coverage from other outlets focused primarily on the hygiene risks and public disgust — not on legal consequences.

Despite mounting online speculation, Woodcox has not commented on the lawsuit rumour. Her public posts predate the latest wave of backlash.
