An Instagram story shared by actor, and influencer Sahiba Bali during the AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi has prompted discussion on social media about facilities at high-profile events.

Bali, who has approximately nine lakh followers on Instagram, was attending the technology summit currently being held in the capital. During the event, she posted a story that read: “Bathroom break out the summit because AI can’t clean bathrooms here”

In the post, she indicated that she had stepped out of the main venue area due to the condition of the washrooms. Screenshots of her story were subsequently circulated across platforms including X, where users amplified her remarks and began debating standards at international gatherings.

Several posts framed her comment as an example of the gap between the futuristic themes of artificial intelligence being discussed at the summit and the on-ground arrangements at the venue. Some users wrote that an international conference featuring global delegates should ensure basic amenities such as clean washrooms.

One widely shared post stated: “Imagine not having clean washrooms at the international AI summit with people from all over the world.”

Another read: “What's the point if we can't have clean toilets at international summits?”

A number of posts also described the situation as embarrassing for the country’s image, contrasting what they termed “glossy PR” and “camera ready reels” with practical arrangements at the venue.

Separately, the summit also drew criticism on its opening day after attendees reported that food counters were accepting cash only, with no option to pay via cards or UPI.Several participants pointed out the irony of a flagship artificial intelligence event held under the IndiaAI Mission and Digital India initiative operating without digital payment facilities or reliable WiFi.

“How is this a Digital India event if you can’t pay with UPI? Cash only at the counters,” one user wrote. Another described the gathering as a “masterclass in bad execution,” while a separate attendee remarked, “The food vendor was taking only cash (can you imagine this).”

The India AI Impact Summit, being held in New Delhi from February 16-20, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, has brought together global policymakers, industry leaders and researchers to discuss inclusive and ethical AI development. The event features prominent international figures including French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman and Google chief executive Sundar Pichai.
