Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased his adventurous side during a recent visit to Lakshadweep, India's smallest Union Territory, when he tried some water sports. The usually stoic leader took to X to share his snorkelling experience, urging adventure enthusiasts to consider adding Lakshadweep to their bucket lists.

During his stay in Lakshadweep, Prime Minister Modi took a plunge into the underwater world, capturing images of corals and fish. In a series of tweets, he recounted his snorkelling experience, urging readers to embrace the adventurer within.

The PM emphasized not only the scenic beauty but also the tranquility of Lakshadweep, highlighting how the serene environment provided him with an opportunity for introspection on ways to contribute further to the welfare of India's vast population.

“For those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them, Lakshadweep has to be on your list. During my stay, I also tried snorkelling – what an exhilarating experience it was,” PM Modi posted on X on Thursday.

He was in Lakshadweep on January 2 and 3 to inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection and lay foundation stone for the renovation of primary healthcare facility and five model Anganwadi centres.

In a lengthy X thread, Modi shared his experiences from in Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti, expressing awe at the stunning beauty and warmth of the local people.

He explained the focus of his visit saying: “Our focus in Lakshadweep is to uplift lives through enhanced development. In addition to creating futuristic infrastructure, it is also about creating opportunities for better healthcare, faster internet and drinking water, while protecting as well celebrating the vibrant local culture. The projects that were inaugurated reflect this spirit."

He added: "Had excellent interactions with the beneficiaries of various government schemes. It's inspiring to see firsthand how these initiatives are fostering better health, self-reliance, women empowerment, improved agricultural practices and more.”

This venture into Lakshadweep is not the first time the world has witnessed PM Modi's adventurous side. In 2019, he featured on Discovery channel's 'Man vs Wild' show with survivalist Bear Grylls in the untamed wilderness of Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand.

The episode, breaking stereotypes, showcased a different aspect of the then 68-year-old Prime Minister, navigating through the park's challenges with calm and cheerfulness.
