A Reddit post sparked discussion after an employee claimed he was asked to take on a demanding project just ahead of his engagement. In the post, r/developersIndia subreddit, the employee said that without revealing the company's name, the team brushed off their wedding plans.

According to the employee, everything in the office is treated as a “priority” with no clear direction or planning. Multiple managers issue conflicting instructions and avoid taking responsibility. Micro-management, they said, has become an everyday lesson.

"I'm stuck in this nightmare project where literally everything is a 'priority'. Too many managers, none of them actually skilled enough to execute anything. Micro-management is the daily lesson- Zoom calls all day, hourly updates, zero trust," the employee said.

"Recently they even enabled geo-fencing, so no one can work beyond 120 km from the base location. My leads? Useless both onsite and offsite, just busy licking management's boots," he added.

According to the Reddit post, the employee had notified managers about his wedding two months in advance. However, the project leaders disregarded it and still expected them to work over the weekend.

"I informed them 2 months ago about my engagement/marriage plans. Instead of planning ahead, they ignored it and now expect me to work through the weekend. The SPM actually said, 'marriage is not an emergency'. My RM is clueless about my work and unreachable," the post added.

"To top it off, I'm getting released from this project in March anyway. Can't postpone the marriage now, and I honestly don't know how to navigate this mess."

The post quickly went viral, drawing reactions from social media users.

One user wrote, “If you have savings and can manage some time without a job, do it. You're gonna be regretting about something anyway. The only question is, do you wanna regret not choosing your marriage later on?

Another added, “In my current company, there is a guy who was literally working on the day of his marriage. He just went home early for his marriage and was back on the next day. I wanna leave this place ASAP.”

A user third said, “I always imagine how I will be able to take leave for my marriage in my future. I was hoping that companies would give at least some weak leaves for marriage/engagement. But I don’t think companies care about marriage much, according to your case.”
