Billionaire businessman Niranjan Hiranandani ditched his fancy cars for a ride in the Mumbai local on Friday. The 73-year-old co-founder and managing director of Hiranandani Group shared glimpses of his journey to Ulhasnagar on Instagram, where his video has gone viral.
Niranjan Hiranandani said he took the train to save time and beat Mumbai’s notorious traffic. His Instagram video shows him waiting at the platform with other passengers and then boarding the AC coach. Some members of his team were seen accompanying him as he travelled via public transport to Ulhasnagar, a city in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
Hiranandani was filmed interacting with other passengers during the journey. In his accompanying caption, he called it an “insightful experience.”
“Saving Time and beating Traffic with the City's Lifeline a journey from Mumbai to Ulhasnagar in an AC coach was a insightful personal experience,” the property tycoon wrote.
In the comments section, several people praised the billionaire for using public transport. Some eagle-eyed viewers, however, called out Hiranandani for boarding the handicapped coach which is reserved for people with physical disabilities, pregnant women and cancer patients.
“This is nice. More industry leaders should use public transport, that will encourage the government to provide better services to people,” wrote one person.
“Billionaire staying grounded,” a second Instagram user commented. “Respect for your simplicity sir,” another said.
