A marketing professional in Bengaluru who had boarded a bus from the airport early on Sunday was in for a shock when he realised, after getting off it, that he had left his backpack containing his laptop and other gadgets worth Rs 75,000 in the bus. The incident happened around 1.40 am. But it took Syed Nouman a few calls and a one-day wait before the driver and the conductor returned his bag to him with all his valuables.

"I was returning to Bengaluru from a work trip in Delhi. I was exhausted and sleepy since I landed around 1 am so when I boarded an airport bus to CBI bus stand in Hebbal, I dozed off," the 25-year-old told Moneycontrol. "I had a trolley bag and a backpack, and had placed my backpack on a different seat since it was heavy. It had my laptop, gimble, and a few other devices that I shoot videos with. My stop was about half an hour from the airport, and I slept my way through only to wake up when the conductor was announcing my stop." In the rush, Nouman alighted from the bus with only his trolley bag.

It took him a couple of minutes to realise what was amiss and then he immediately called up the BMTC helpline number. "The guy at the BMTC control room heard me out and shared the exact number for the KIA airport bus team. They helped me get in touch with the conductor of the bus, who confirmed that the bag was found and safe," Nouman said.

He was then asked to either come to the depot and collect it, or they could bring it to the same bus stand the next morning. "I was both tired and sleepy at the time. So I chose to wait," Nouman said.

The next morning, he waited at the spot and the BMTC staff dropped his bag off around 9.30 am.

"The conductor, Paramesh Beeregowda, not only showed up on time, he also called me twice before reaching to check if I was around. Honestly didn’t expect it to be this smooth, and the BMTC staff were so helpful. I am beyond grateful," Nouman said.
