Chinese smartphone giant Huawei is expected to launch the newest member of its flagship P-series, the Huawei P30 Pro in the first quarter of 2019. The device succeeds Huawei’s famed P20 Pro, the smartphone which changed the camera landscape forever for smartphones by launching the world’s first triple-camera smartphone.
It seems Huawei is at it again. Recently, in a render which appeared online, Huawei P30 Pro, the company’s upcoming smartphone, will be launched with four rear-camera setup. Though Samsung beat Huawei in the race to the quad cameras with Galaxy A9, Huawei’s P30 Pro has something special, 10x optical zoom capability.

As per the render, the cameras will come in a vertical configuration with two clusters. Cluster one will consist of three shooters combined with an LED and a laser focus module housed between the lenses. The second cluster will consist of a single ToF (time-of-flight) lens.
Though the exact specifications of the cameras are not known yet, what we know is one of the lenses from the quad lens set will be a telephoto lens which will be capable of 10x optical zoom. Given Huawei’s long-term association with premium lens-maker Leica, it is safe to assume P30 Pro would also flaunt lenses from the German makers.
Also, the individual ToF camera will be used for 3D face scanning and modelling and will not be used for photography purposes.
The device maker will also reportedly launch a more affordable version, Huawei P30 which will come with three-rear cameras which will consist of a telephoto lens capable of 5X zooming.
At the front, the smartphone seems to be flaunting thin bezels with a water-drop notch. The smartphone is expected to run on the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS out-of-the-box with EMUI 9.0 skin loaded on top. The device will be powered by the recently launched Kirin 980 SoC with 7nm technology.
