After weeks of speculations and teasers, Huawei Nova 4 has finally been unwrapped at an event in China. The device sports a massive 48-megapixel rear camera along with a 25-megapixel front camera housed in a ‘punch-hole’ inside the display, along the lines of Samsung Galaxy A8 launched last week along with Honor View 20.
The smartphone has been launched in a premium 48MP+16MP+2MP triple-rear camera variant and a more affordable version with 20MP+16MP+2MP camera configuration at the rear. While the 48MP camera variant is priced at CNY 3,399 (approx Rs 35,200), the 20MP camera variant comes at a price of CNY 3,099 (approx Rs 32,150).
The smartphone has been launched exclusively in China for the time being. However, enthusiasts in India may soon see the device being shipped to other countries including India with similar pricing.
Huawei Nova 4 specsThe smartphone succeeds Huawei’s Nova 3 smartphone which was launched earlier this year and comes with a large 6.4-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD display with 1080x2310 pixel resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 86.0 percent. The high screen-to-body ratio can be attributable to the ‘punch-hole’ display which incorporates the selfie camera, leaving the smartphone with a very thin chin at the bottom and no notch at the top. The device measures 157mm x 75.1mm x 7.8mm and tilts on the lighter side weighing 172 grams.
Huawei Nova 4 runs on an octa-core HiSIlicon Kirin 970 CPU, with a peak clock rate of 2.36GHz. The CPU is backed by an 8GB RAM with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU for graphics processing. The device ships with the latest Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box with Huawei’s EMUI 9.0.1 skin loaded on top and 128GB of internal storage.
In camera, which is the second USP of the smartphone following the display, the device comes with triple-rear camera setup with two variants. The premium variant ships with 48MP (Sony IMX586 lens) +16MP+2MP, while the lower-priced variant sports 20MP+16MP+2MP. At the front, there is a 25MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Apart from the ability to capture 4K videos, the AI-enabled cameras come with features such as PDAF for fast focusing, AI beauty, 3D Qmoji, EIS for stability, along with contrast focus feature (for rear camera).
Connectivity features on the Dual-SIM 4G phone include dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS Bluetooth 4.2 with A2Dp and aptX HD, 2.0 USB Type-C along with sensors such as an accelerometer, proximity, compass, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and a large 3,750 mAh battery capable of 18W fast charging.
The smartphone will come in black, blue, red and white colour variants.
