Here's how the newly launched Xiaomi Yi action cameras fare against GoPro's range

Xiaomi-backed Chinese technology company Yi has launched its action and home cameras in India. Action camera market has been dominated by GoPro and its Hero series, however, with its aggressively priced Yi action cameras, the company has shown an intent to disrupt the competition.

Yi’s India lineup includes: Yi 4K Action Camera, YI 88001 Action Camera, Yi Home Camera, Yi 1080p Home Camera, Yi Home Camera 2 (1080p), Yi Dome Camera, Yi Dome Camera 1080p. All of its range comes in two colours – black and white.

GoPro Hero5 Vs Yi 4K Action Camera

GoPro is widely regarded for its action cameras but the entry of Xiaomi Yi in the US and now in India has posed as a challenge. Here is the comparison of both brand's high-end cameras: GoPro Hero5 and Yi 4K Action Camera.

Yi 4K Action Camera provides everything GoPro Hero5 does, as in the table below, but at a ridiculously low price. 

GoProHero 3+ Vs Yi 88001 Action Camera

These two cameras are from the lower and mid-level band of products offered by both the companies. At Rs 6,990, Yi's 88001 Action camera has better specs than GoProHero 3 plus which is priced at Rs 32,999.

Home Cameras

Xiaomi Yi has also launched its home camera range in India for security surveillance. Most of its home cameras come with 112-degree wide angle view, 8 GB to 32 GB memory, motion detection, two-way audio and real time activity alerts. The table below compares its product range.

Though Yi cameras fare better on paper it remains to be seen whether they will be able to match up to the user experience of GoPro.
