Apple will reportedly update its entire MacBook 2024 lineup to new M4 processors. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has revealed an expected release schedule for the new MacBook lineup, in his latest "Power On" newsletter. He also stated that this new chipset will come in three new variants named Donan, Brava, and Hidra.

Gurman has also stated that Apple has already started production of the M4, and the Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly preparing these chipsets with the main focus on AI-based capabilities.

These new M4 variants will overhaul the entire MacBook lineup. We may see a low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, higher-powered 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, new 24-inch iMac, and different Mac minis, to name a few. These PCs will be relatively faster than the current M3 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, which were first launched in October 2023.

Following that, Gurman has also stated that, from spring to late 2025, Apple will also release new M4-powered 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models. We might see a new Mac Studio with a high-end M4 chipset and a Mac Pro with the M4 Ultra chipset.

The Donan code-named M4 chipset should power the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, the new MacBook M4 Air models, and an entry-level Mac Mini. The Brava code-named M4 chipset will power the high-end MacBook Pros and the flagship Mac mini, as per Gurman.

For the Mac Studio, Apple may use an upcoming new M3-based chipset or the Brava M4 processor. The flagship Apple M4 Hidra chipset could be used in the upcoming Mac Pro, which should be named as the M4 Ultra processor. This machine could launch in the mid-2025, suggests Gurman.

As part of the upgrades, Apple is reportedly considering allowing prospective buyers to spec its highest-end Mac desktops with up to 512GB of RAM. This will be much higher than the current limit for current iMac models.
