Tata Motors has hiked the price of its recently launched hatchback Tiago in the range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 as the introductory pricing period ended this month.
The all new Tata Tiago is aimed to be a modern alternative to the ageing Indica. Available in both petrol and diesel engines, the Tata Tiago gets a total of eight variants.
This is the first product to combine a new design and technology strategy, said CEO Guenter Butschek. He is confident of Tiago doing well and making a difference in the hatchback market
"Workmen have called off the strike and resumed duty from March 23, 2016 and normalcy has been restored at the Sanand plant," Tata Motors said in a BSE filing.
The Sanand plant, which has an annual production capacity of 2 lakh units, currently rolls out compact hatchback Nano. The auto maker will also roll out its upcoming small car Tiago, earlier named as Zica, from the same plant.
Earlier this month, auto major had decided to rename its soon-to-be launched hatchback Zica in view of the outbreak of Zika virus.
The Zika virus is rapidly spreading across South America and has already affected people in over 20 countries. The virus can lead to birth defects, including microcephaly or abnormally small heads in babies.
This week, we bring you the first impressions of Tata‘s new small car, the Zica, and the highlights from the 16th CNBC-TV18 Overdrive Awards.
The car will come with two new engine options and spacious interiors and is all set to go up against the likes of Maruti‘s Celerio and Hyundai‘s Grand i10
While the company did not comment on the date of launch of Zica, sources said it is expected to hit the market in the early part of 2016.
