With final results declared on February 13, Congress has become the largest party in the Telangana municipal polls, winning 1,347 out of 2,582 wards across 116 municipalities. A look at the results (as per the latest figures):

On the results of the local body elections, Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, "As far as the Congress government is concerned, this is a big victory. The people have given a full majority to the Congress party, and we are all very grateful to them, and we will work with more seriousness and sincerity."

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy took to X to thank people of the state, crediting the tireless efforts of lakhs of Congress workers.

"Heartfelt thanks to the people of the state who have secured an unassailable victory for the Congress Party in the highest number of seats in the elections held across 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations statewide," he wrote on X.

"This victory is the fruit of the tireless efforts of lakhs of Congress workers. It is a testament to their boundless devotion to the Party. This victory is dedicated to every worker who carried the Party flag high, come rain or shine, and took government schemes to the people," the chief minister added.

Amid Congress leading in 90 out of 116 municipalities in Telangana, chief minister Revanth Reddy held a meeting with senior party leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi on Friday.

Jana Sena candidate Aggu Sagar wins as corporator with a 31-vote majority in the 34th division of Mancherial Municipal Corporation, the party informed through a post on X.

Congress is surging ahead in 90 municipalities of the 116, BRS is leading in 12 while the BJP in one. Twelve of the municipalities seem to have thrown a hung verdict.

The latest figures show that Congress has surged ahead in 1,309 wards, while the BRS is leading in 668 wards and the BJP in 210 wards.

Congress is ahead in Nalgonda, Ramagundam and Manchirial Corporations as counting of votes are currently underway.

Out of seven municipal corporations in Telangana, results for five have been declared so far. Congress is leading in three corporations, the BJP in one, and others in one, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has not won any of the declared corporations.

Congress leaders claim the party is ahead in 35 of the 48 wards in Nalgonda Municipal Corporation. Nalgonda is one of the seven municipal corporations that recently went to polls and was recently upgraded from a municipality.

Results for 448 municipal corporation wards in Telangana have been declared so far. The Indian National Congress (INC) has won 240 wards, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has secured 140. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 37 wards, All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) 6, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) 1, CPI(M) 1, and independents 14. Additionally, 12 candidates were elected unopposed, according to the Telangana State Election Commission.

A BRS candidate secured victory in a Dubbak municipal ward after a 357-357 tie with a BJP rival was settled through a coin toss, according to a Hyderabad Mail report. Of the 20 wards declared so far, BRS has won seven and BJP one, while Congress is yet to open its account.

Congress has surged ahead in 926 wards as counting progresses in the Telangana municipal elections. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is leading in 522 wards, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken the lead in 159 wards.

Congress leader Mettu Sai Kumar said the people of Telangana have backed the development initiatives of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and reaffirmed their faith in the Congress party. He stated that the results reflect the trust voters have placed in both the party and the Chief Minister, adding that Congress will stand firmly with the people who have supported it.

Amarchinta Municipality delivered a hung verdict, with Congress, BRS and BJP winning 3 wards each, while CPI(M) secured 1 ward out of the total 10.

Congress dominated Kodada Municipality, winning 27 of 35 wards. BRS secured 3 wards, and Independents won 5.

Congress won Bheemgal Municipality with 8 of 12 wards, while BRS secured the remaining 4 wards.

In Yellareddy Municipality, Congress clinched 10 of 12 wards, with BRS and an Independent winning one ward each.

Congress secured Banswada Municipality by winning 10 of 19 wards. BRS won 4 wards, BJP 3, while one ward each went to an Independent and MIM candidate.

Out of 1,615 wards where trends are available, the Congress is leading in 876, followed by the BRS with 462, the BJP with 138, while others are ahead in 139 wards.

Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that the party would win a significant number of seats, and said, "Last time we had around 330 municipal councillors and corporators and three chairmen. But this time, I am sure the people of Telangana will give a big mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party. We are hopeful that we will fare better and we will be the alternative to the Congress party."

Congress leaders and workers gathered at Gandhi Bhawan in Hyderabad began celebrations as the party surged ahead in 36 of the 116 municipalities. With early trends indicating a strong performance, supporters burst crackers at the party's state headquarters, expressing confidence of a clean sweep.

Congress secured Narayankhed Municipality with 11 of 15 wards, while BRS won 3 and BJP 1.

In Thorrur Municipality, BRS won 9 of 16 wards, while Congress secured 7 wards.

The BRS secured Indresham, Gummadidala and Gaddapotharam municipalities in Sangareddy district, winning three out of five civic bodies.

The Congress party secured a decisive victory in the Aswaraopeta Municipality elections in Telangana, winning 17 out of the total 22 wards. The result gives Congress a clear majority in the civic body. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) managed to win 2 wards, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 1 ward. The remaining wards were won by other candidates. The BJP has alleged irregularities in the counting of votes at several polling booths. Party leaders have decided to meet Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy to raise concerns over the issue and seek appropriate action.

Sunkari Alivelu, the Congress nominee from Ward 9 of Nagarkurnool Municipality, won the election by a margin of 315 votes. Following the result declaration, election officials formally presented her with the certificate of victory.

The Congress has registered a commanding victory in Nandikonda Municipality in the Telangana municipal elections. Out of a total of 12 wards, the party won 11 seats, leaving just one ward to other candidates.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has secured a decisive victory in Gaddapotharam Municipality in the ongoing Telangana municipal elections. Out of a total of 18 wards, BRS won 14 seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark. The Congress managed to secure three seats, while one seat was won by an Independent candidate.

Alampur Municipality is expected to be among the first to announce its result, as only 7,104 votes are to be counted, making a declaration likely in the very first round itself.

The Congress is ahead in the Telangana municipal elections, according to early counting trends across several urban local bodies.

Responding to AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan's remarks, Telangana BJP chief Ramchander Rao questioned why the party's legislators do not stand during the playing of Vande Mataram.. He said, "...When you respect and have honoured Vande Mataram, why don't you recite it?... While Vande Mataram is being played, everyone must stand up. What has happened in the Telangana Assembly when Vande Mataram is going on? AIMIM MLAs don't stand up. What happens in Parliament when Vande Mataram is going on? They don't stand up... They don't respect it... Those who don't respect any national ethos, national symbols, national song, national anthem, what should we call them?... It is good that he is respecting it; we welcome that, but we must also follow the conventions which are laid down for such national symbols, national songs, and national events. I think Vande Mataram should be treated same... Those who love India, those who love the nation, they must say Vande Mataram."

Both the BRS and the BJP have reportedly arranged buses to shift their candidates to camps outside the state on Thursday night, in a bid to prevent poaching attempts. Party leaders have also asked candidates to keep their mobile phones switched off until the counting process is completed.

A day before the municipal poll results, CM Revanth Reddy met Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.

The State Election Commission has put in place webcasting facilities at all counting centres as well as outside strong rooms to ensure transparency. The polls recorded a voter turnout of over 73 per cent.

The counting process began with postal ballots before moving on to regular ballot papers. Since the elections were conducted using ballot papers instead of EVMs, officials expect the exercise to take longer than usual. Authorities have put in place elaborate security arrangements to ensure the counting proceeds smoothly and without disruption.

Widely viewed as a mid-term referendum on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the results are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the state’s political landscape, amid heated BRS rivalry.

Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will remain in force in and around the counting centres to maintain law and order. Only authorised personnel — including counting supervisors, counting assistants, candidates, and their election and counting agents — will be permitted inside the counting halls. The use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets has been strictly prohibited within the premises.

While multiple parties contested, the elections in most ULBs witnessed a triangular fight between the Congress, BRS and BJP, with four-cornered contests reported in around 15 municipalities and corporations. Nearly 13,000 candidates were in the fray across 2,981 wards, with 14 wards decided unanimously and polling in one ward adjourned following the death of a candidate.

Particular attention is on the coal belt region, which has around five lakh votes belonging to Singareni workers, retirees and their family members. These voters are seen to influence the outcome in at least eight urban local bodies (ULBs). Meanwhile, in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, several BJP candidates took an oath not to switch parties after the results, amid apprehensions of possible defections during the election of the mayor and deputy mayor.

In the 2020 municipal elections, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) delivered strong performances across several towns. In Huzurnagar municipality, which has 28 wards, AIMIM won 20 seats.

In Kodad municipality, the party secured a commanding victory by winning 25 seats.

In Neredcherla municipality, which has a total of 15 wards, CPM and AIMIM won seven seats each.

In Suryapet municipality, comprising 48 wards, AIMIM emerged victorious in 24 seats.

In Tirumalagiri municipality, AIMIM won 11 seats in the 2020 elections.

More than 41,000 polling personnel were deployed to conduct the elections, and 16,382 ballot boxes were used during voting. The counting of votes will take place today.

According to the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC), a total of 10,719 candidates contested elections for 2,569 wards across 116 municipalities. In the seven municipal corporations, 2,225 candidates were in the fray for 412 wards.

Adilabad Collector Rajarshi Shah was among the early voters during the first two hours of polling in the municipal elections in Adilabad town, which began at 7 am. He exercised his franchise at the polling booth set up in the Sathnala quarters area of the town.

Among Telangana's municipal corporations, Nalgonda posted the highest turnout at 77.36 per cent, while Nizamabad recorded the lowest at 59.12 per cent.

Choutuppal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district registered the highest participation among municipalities in Telangana, with turnout reaching 91.91 per cent. In contrast, Nandikonda in Nalgonda district recorded the lowest turnout among municipalities at 59.68 per cent.

The Telangana State Election Commission reported a final voter turnout of 73.01 per cent at the close of polling in the municipal elections.

With all three major parties projecting confidence, the results of the urban local body polls are expected to influence Telangana's political direction and reflect the evolving preferences of its urban electorate.

For the BRS, the counting carries significant importance. After electoral setbacks in the 2023 Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the party is attempting to regain lost ground. Encouraged by its relatively improved performance in the gram panchayat elections last December, the BRS hopes the municipal results will help revive its political momentum.

The BJP is aiming to translate its high-decibel campaign into tangible gains. Union Coal Minister and senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy expressed optimism about the party's performance, while alleging misuse of power and money distribution by the ruling Congress during the campaign.
