The Xbox video game brand was created by software giant Microsoft. Microsoft currently has five video game consoles under the Xbox branding, while there are other apps, games, and services that are also developed for the Xbox consoles. Microsoft’s Xbox Network is an online service, while Xbox Game Studios is the development arm of the company. The first Xbox console was announced in the US in November 2001. Microsoft’s original Xbox gaming console was created in response to Sony’s PlayStation 2. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One followed the launch of the original Xbox, selling 86 million and 51 million units, respectively. The latest iterations of the Xbox consoles come in the form of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The Xbox Series S is a smaller version of the Xbox Series X that aims to deliver smooth 1440p gaming at 60fps. Microsoft also allows backward compatibility for Xbox games from all past consoles with the latest Xbox Series X/S. Microsoft has used hardware from Intel, Nvidia, and AMD on its consoles, but the latest Xbox Series S/X features custom AMD hardware that is similar to what’s seen on the Sony PlayStation 5. More
