Recently, the Union Cabinet approved promulgation of an ordinance to amend the GST compensation law to pave the way for increasing cess on mid and large sized cars.
"Bringing the fastest cars from the fastest family in the world is proof of the increasing importance of India as a market and its potential for performance sports cars," Mercedes-Benz India MD & CEO Roland Folger told reporters here.
The car maker has already sought help from various ministries, including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which has asked them to get in touch with oil and gas firms.
"This new SUV Coupe is going to be a key addition to our 43 AMG line and will be instrumental in further popularising the 43 AMG range to a new customer base," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Roland Folger told reporters here.
In January-June, the company sold record 7,171 units, a growth of 8.7 per cent over 6,597 units sold in the same period of last year.
The sales growth in January-March period this calendar year has been driven by the E-Class sedan and SUV portfolio led by GLC, Mercedes Benz India said.

Speaking to Moneycontrol, Roland Folger, Managing Director, Chief Executive of Mercedes-Benz India explained that if taxes on luxury cars were to be cut by even 10 percent, then volumes would rise significantly thereby adding to tax revenue.
Pune-based Mercedes-Benz clocked sales of 13,231 units in January-December 2016, a drop of 2 percent over 13,502 units sold in calendar 2015.
"The rising inflation coupled with rising input costs and increasing forex rates have been exerting significant pressure on the bottom line," Mercedes Benz India said in a statement.
The company, which sold 13,502 units last year, however, said it will be looking to grow double digits in 2017.

The parts warehouse, spread over 16,500 sq mt with a storing capacity of 44,000 parts will improve operational efficiency and enhance spare parts availability for end customers, resulting in higher customer satisfaction, the company said in a statement.
The GLS 400 4MATIC petrol, powered by a V6 engine has been launched in just three months of the introduction of the diesel variant, underlining Mercedes-Benz India's strategy of introducing the best products from the global portfolio in the shortest possible time, the company said in a statement.

The new model is available in both diesel and petrol options. The GLC 220d, powered by a 2143 cc diesel engine, is priced at Rs 50.7 lakh, while the GLC 300 driven by a 1991 cc petrol engine is tagged at Rs 50.9 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Pune).
