According to the Railway Ministry, the whole exercise was carried out on the suggestions and under the constant monitoring of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw who was assisted by Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar and other senior officials.
Sources said a team of police officials visited the station on Monday to procure the CCTV footage to determine the sequence of the events that led to the stampede on February 15 that left at least 18 dead and 15 injured.
According to a statement, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav in his complaint alleged that the tragedy happened due to the irresponsibility of the railway authorities and security forces as they took no step to manage the swelling crowd despite the fact that a large number of passengers bound for Prayagraj to take a holi bath in the Maha Kumbh festival had assembled at the New Delhi station along with hundreds of passengers bound for other destinations by other trains.

The Railways, on Sunday, announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 1 lakh for individuals with minor injuries.
