    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar, on June 19. The event will be attended by External Affairs Minister S. Located near the ancient Nalanda ruins, the university was established through the Nalanda University Act, 2010, implementing a decision from the 2007 East Asia Summit. The ancient university flourished for 800 years before its destruction in the 12th century. The new university began operating in 2014 with 14 students and started construction in 2017. It includes participation from 17 countries and offers 137 international scholarships. The university has six schools, including the School of Buddhist Studies and the School of Sustainable Development and Management.
