Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is going slow in his movie career, was in news recently after speculations arose that the “Khalnayak” actor is going to follow the footsteps of his father and veteran actor Sunil Dutt.
But the actor took to X to issue a clarification that he is not joining politics anytime soon.
I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news…— Sanjay Dutt (@duttsanjay) April 8, 2024
His sister Priya Dutt is also in politics like her dad and is a member of the Congress party.
He wrote on his official account on X that if he ever has to join any political party, he will be the first one to announce it himself.
“I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now,” he wrote.
This isn’t the first time reports of Sanjay Dutt joining politics are in the news, in 2019 too there were speculations that the actor will be taking a plunge into politics. But nothing came of it.
In 2009, Sanjay Dutt did file nominations for the Samajwadi Party but withdrew it later after the court refused to suspend his conviction. He was then appointed General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party but he quit that post in December 2010.
Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer, stage 4 but he is now cured of it. On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt was recently seen as Adheera in "KGF: Chapter 2", then Tamil movie "Leo".
