Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje slammed former Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav for his comments on her weight, saying she felt “insulted”. Raje also said the Election Commission should take cognisance of the language used by Yadav "to set an example for future".
Raje had reached polling booth number 31A in Jhalrapatan constituency of Jhalawar to cast her vote on December 7. After coming out of the booth, she was asked by mediapersons about the Yadav’s remark, to which she responded, “To set an example for the future, it's important that the EC takes cognisance of this kind of language. I actually feel insulted and I think even women are insulted.”

Yadav had made the comment on December 6 while campaigning in Rajasthan. “Vasundhra ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. (let Vasundhara relax, she is tired and fat, she was slim earlier),” Yadav was quoted as saying by ANI.

The comment, which was seen as body-shaming of the incumbent chief minister of Rajasthan, created a buzz in the political lobby. After this, Yadav came forward and clarified his remark. He sought to downplay his comment as only a "joke" and as something that was not meant to hurt Raje. “I said it as a joke. I have old relations with her. It was not derogatory in any way. I had no intentions of hurting her. When I met her, I told her then also that you're gaining weight,” Yadav told ANI.
