CDS Chauhan highlighted global instability caused by weak institutions and reactive decision-making.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, on Saturday, delivered a strong message on India’s national security, stating that wars are won through decisive action, not empty words.

In his address, General Chauhan criticised symbolic gestures and rhetoric by Pakistan.

“Wars cannot be won by rhetoric, but by purposeful action,” he said, underlining that real strength stems from discipline, careful planning, and decisive execution. His remarks come as Pakistan, despite heavy losses during Operation Sindoor, circulated false claims of victory through its leadership and social media platforms.

He was speaking at the Combined Graduation Parade of the Autumn Term, December 2025, at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, where he was the presiding officer.

He highlighted global instability caused by weak institutions and reactive decision-making.

“Around us we often witness developments that signal institutional fragility and reactive adjustments. In contrast, India’s strength rests on robust institutions, democratic stability and unwavering professionalism of our Armed Forces,” General Chauhan said, in a veiled dig at Pakistan.

The CDS praised India’s armed forces for their professionalism and commitment, describing them as the backbone of national security. He emphasised that the credibility of the Indian military lies in its ability to adapt while remaining grounded in strong values and institutional discipline.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, General Chauhan noted that they were joining the armed forces at a critical time, with Operation Sindoor still underway. “You are joining the force when Operation Sindoor is on,” he said, stressing that the responsibility on their shoulders would be immediate and real.

He urged the officers to adopt sustained preparedness, alertness, and agility as daily habits rather than occasional responses. “Our strength will lie in the ability to remain alert, agile and prepared every hour, every day,” he said, adding that making victory a habit should become the new normal for the armed forces.

Concluding his speech, the CDS called on the graduates to lead by example, remain focused on their mission, and maintain vigilance, readiness, and professionalism, which he said would define their success throughout their careers, both in peace and in war.
