US ambassador Sergio Gor met Reserve Bank of India’s governor Sanjay Malhotra, the envoy said on January 17.
“Very much enjoyed meeting @RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. We discussed areas of increased cooperation, including new state-of-the-art US technology,” Gor said in a post on X.
The meeting comes days after Gor took charge as the new US ambassador to India on January 12.
Gor, in his first address after taking charge, had said that both India and the US are “actively engaged” in trade talks with officials in regular touch, underlining that dialogue never stopped even after public disagreements.
In addition, Gor said the trade negotiations were part of a resilient partnership between New Delhi and Washington. “Real friends can disagree, but resolve the difference,” he had noted.
Gore also thanked US President Donald Trump for his appointment and highlighted his “genuine” friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gor on Friday also visited the US Consulate in Mumbai during his first trip to the city.
Sharing an update on social media platform X, Gor wrote, "Excited to kick off my first visit to Mumbai with a visit to our Consulate! Our dedicated team working hard to bolster the US-India partnership."
Moreover, on Wednesday, Gor had said he was looking forward to working closely with New Delhi to advance shared priorities in areas of defence, trade, technology and critical minerals and to strengthen the overall partnership, as he presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu.
