After being detained by police while staging a protest outside the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra called the BJP “beguner bachcha” (son of a brinjal).
“TMC holo bagher bachcha (tiger cub), ar BJP holo beguner bachcha. Mamata di is the tigress. What Amit Shah’s Delhi Police did to TMC MPs today is nothing but shameful desperation,” she told the media. "We will defeat the BJP. The country is seeing how the Delhi Police is treating an elected MP."

In Bengali, “begun” primarily refers to eggplants or brinjal while “bachcha” means child.
In respond to the post of an X user sharing her clip, Moitra replied saying, "Hehe most inspired if I do say so myself!"
A political controversy erupted over Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on the office and residence of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) chief Pratik Jain in Kolkata as several Trinamool Congress leaders protested outside Home Minister Amit Shah’s office in Delhi.
As the protest blew up, cops also got involved and Moitra was seen being carried by police personnel while being detained. “Shame shame shame!”, yelled Moitra as she condemned the police action and vowed that her party would win the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal.
Several Trinamool MPs on Friday staged a protest against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids conducted at the office of the political consultancy firm I-PAC in Kolkata on Thursday. Party MPs, including Derek O'Brien, Satabdi Roy, Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad, and others had gathered outside Shah's office, raising slogans against him.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress on Friday moved the Calcutta High Court against the ED raids at the office of political consultancy firm I-PAC and the residence of its chief here, seeking restraint on “misuse and dissemination” of documents seized during the search operations.
The ruling party in West Bengal, in its petition, alleged that the ED seized sensitive and confidential political data meant for the TMC’s use in the upcoming assembly elections, in a display of “arbitrary, mala fide, and colourable exercise of power”.
