External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday pushed back against what he called the “selective targeting” of India, telling Poland that such an approach was unfair and unjustified, while also urging Poland to show zero tolerance towards terrorism in India’s neighbourhood.
During talks with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in New Delhi, Jaishankar said Poland should not 'help fuel terrorist infrastructure' in the region. The Polish foreign minister recently visited Pakistan.
Jaishankar said India and Poland shared traditionally warm and friendly ties, marked by growing political engagement, economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. "The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Poland in August 2024 saw our relationship elevated to a Strategic Partnership status," he said.

The external affairs minister said the two sides would review the Action Plan 2024–28 to fully realise the potential of the strategic partnership, with a focus on trade and investment, defence and security cooperation, clean technologies and digital innovation.
Highlighting economic ties, Jaishankar noted that Poland was among India’s largest trading partners in Central Europe, with bilateral trade standing at around USD 7 billion after growing nearly 200 per cent over the past decade.
Indian investments in Poland have crossed USD 3 billion, generating significant employment, he said, while underlining the opportunities for Polish businesses in India’s fast-growing economy.
Jaishankar also spoke about strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties, recalling historical links such as the legacy of the ‘Dobry Maharaj’ and initiatives like the Jamsaheb Memorial Youth Exchange Programme. He said Indology continued to thrive in Poland, and yoga enjoyed wide popularity.
On regional and global issues, Jaishankar said he had earlier shared India’s views on the Ukraine conflict with the Polish leadership in New York and Paris, reiterating that "India was being selectively targeted on multiple fronts, not just tariffs".
He added that Poland was well aware of the challenge of cross-border terrorism in the region and stressed that zero tolerance towards terrorism must be a shared principle.
