Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that Tamil Nadu is seeking change and wants to replace the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, which he termed corrupt. He said the countdown has begun for the MK Stalin-led administration, adding that the state is looking towards a BJP-NDA government.
Referring to the DMK as the “CMC” government, the Prime Minister said the acronym stood for “corruption, mafia and crime,” and stated that the people of Tamil Nadu had resolved to uproot the party and vote for change.
“Tamil Nadu now seeks liberation from the DMK's misgovernance. Tamil Nadu now wants a BJP-NDA government,” PM Modi said addressing a massive rally in Tamil Nadu’s Maduranthakam.
“We must free Tamil Nadu from the DMK government. We must make Tamil Nadu a developed, secure, and corruption-free state. I can clearly see that the countdown to the DMK government's exit has already begun,” he added.
The Prime Minister stated that the DMK was given a clear mandate twice, but the trust of the people of Tamil Nadu was broken, adding that many promises were made by the party but no work was delivered.
“People are now calling the DMK government the CMC government. CMC government means a government that promotes 'corruption, mafia, and crime.' The people of Tamil Nadu have now made up their minds to uproot both DMK and CMC. Here, a BJP-NDA double-engine government is certain to come to power,” he said.
PM Modi alleged that the DMK government has little regard for democracy or accountability and functions solely to appease a single family.
“If someone wants to go ahead in the DMK, they have only 3-4 routes: the dynasty route, corruption route, and more. This attitude has caused great harm to Tamil Nadu,” he added.
“We have to liberate Tamil Nadu from the chains of the DMK. The sooner Tamil Nadu develops, the sooner India develops,” the PM stated.
