Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a sharp attack at the Congress, saying stealing was ingrained in the party’s history.
Replying to a debate in Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, the Prime Minister said, “Stealing is their (Congress’s) ancestral profession. They even stole a Gujarati surname, Mahatma Gandhi’s surname, and the people are now teaching them a lesson.”
The Prime Minister also took a swipe at the Congress’s ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ slogan -- popularised by Rahul Gandhi -- asking what kind of “shop of love” dreams of digging the grave of a fellow citizen.
“Those who claim to run a ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ are raising slogans saying, ‘Modi, teri kabr khudegi.’ What kind of ‘Mohabbat ki dukaan’ is this that dreams of digging the grave of a fellow citizen of the country? From which part of the Constitution have they learned to speak about digging the grave of a citizen of this nation? Is this not an insult to humanity? Is this not an insult to the dignity and decorum of public life? Yet, they have no sense of remorse over it,” the Prime Minister said.
He stated that after the abrogation of Article 370, the Congress wanted his grave, that even after strikes deep inside Pakistan the demand remained, and that despite carrying out Operation Sindoor, the party continued to dream of digging his grave.
Expanding his criticism, PM Modi said parties like Congress, TMC, DMK and the Left had decades in power but failed to improve citizens' lives. "They only worked to fill their own pockets. Today they talk about deals with pride, but earlier the country remembered them for deals like Bofors," he said.
Concluding his remarks, PM Modi asserted that India's strength lies in its people. "We believe 140 crore Indians are 140 crore solutions. Congress thinks the people themselves are the problem. No matter how many challenges there are, we have the solutions within us," he said.
