Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday underscored India’s support for peace efforts in West Asia, saying that "humanity must never become a victim of conflict.”
Speaking during a joint press briefing in Jerusalem, PM Modi referred to the ongoing efforts to stabilise the situation in Gaza and said that India fully supports the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to resolve the war in the region.
The Prime Minister said that the path to peace will be achieved through the peace plan.
“In the future too, we will continue to consult and cooperate with all partners on establishing peace in West Asia,” he said.
Emphasising shared security concerns, PM Modi also said that India and Israel are committed to opposing terror in any form.
His remarks come amid renewed international focus on a Gaza peace proposal backed by Trump. Announced on September 29, 2025, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it was signed on October 9 and endorsed by the UN Security Council on November 17.
The 20-point plan is a comprehensive, multi-phase proposal which seeks to immediately end the two-year war in Gaza, secure the release of all hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and establish a, demilitarized, technocratically governed and reconstructed Gaza Strip.
During his address at Israel's Knesset on Wednesday too, PM Modi had expressed India's support to the plan.
“The Gaza Peace Initiative, which was endorsed by the UN Security Council, offers a pathway. India has expressed its firm support for the initiative. We believe that it holds the promise of a just and durable peace for all the people of the region, including by addressing the Palestine issue. Let all our efforts be guided by wisdom, courage, and humanity. The road to peace is not always easy, but India joins you and the world for dialogue, peace and stability in this region," he had said.
