Commerce minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said that the government will be happy to create conditions for foreign companies like Tesla to enter the Indian market, adding that anybody missing the opportunity will do so at their own risk.
Goyal was responding to a question about the potential entry of Elon Musk's Tesla into the Indian market during an exclusive interaction at the Green Bharat Summit.

The Union minister said that while India cannot decide if anyone choose to do business in the country, the government will be delighted to see Elon Musk and Tesla enter the local market.
"We cannot decide on someone else whether they choose to come to India or not. We are ready and happy and willing to create conditions that will attract more and more companies - be it Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo. We would like all of them to come and manufacture in India," he said.
Goyal added that all the policies framed by the Narendra Modi government will be "company and individual agnostic."
He suggested that it will only be the company's loss if they miss an opportunity to manufacture in India. "Anybody who misses this opportunity of coming to India does so at their own risk and cost, because this is the world's largest market today," he said.
Goyal added that if Tesla enters the Indian market, it will probably get around 100,000 bookings on the very first day.
Earlier this month, Goyal said that there were no discussions regarding the entry of Tesla or Starlink. Musk canceled his much-anticipated visit to India in April this year, temporarily derailing his ambitious plans to enter the Indian electric vehicle and broadband markets.
