"When we began our journey the EV penetration was 0, with what we gave built, the penetration now is 25% in EV two-wheelers," says Bhavish Aggarwal.

"Already in a couple of years EVs without subsidies will be cheaper than ICE vehicles," added Bhavish Aggarwal.

"The strategic objective of electrification is that India have to become the largest manufacturing hub of EV and EV products," says Bhavish Aggarwal

"The govt has done more than enough in terms of policy, subsidies and encouragement. And now it is up to entrepreneurs like us to build on this," says Bhavish Aggarwal

Bhavish Aggarwal said," For our generation globally biggest challenge will be climate change." "For the world to combat climate change, they cannot do it without India," says Bhavish Aggarwal

"I do believe PLI schemes are needed for industries," says Bhavish Aggarwal.

"We have biggest capacity installed so that theme of PLI incentives for localized manufacturing is very strategic and government will also double down on that," says Bhavish Aggarwal.

"I agree with what ministers have said in terms if subsidies," says Bhavish Aggarwal

"I feel it should go away and consumers do not need subsidies now," added Bhavish Aggarwal

Piyush Goyal said," Some of the automakers are worries about the large investment they have done in the past. I think they are being very myopic in their thinking." "If I was in their shoes, I would see that the investment that would go dead is a very small component, just the ICE engine part

"Better to forgo a small investment and try and capture a larger market share and contribute to the climate action," said Piyush Goyal to auto makers.

"If they continue to hog those ICE engines beyond a point, I suspect some of these companies will become obsolete in the future," Piyush Goyal added.

"I have never been a fan of Hybrid cars, but we have an open mind, we should not close our mind to options," says Piyush Goyal

"If Tesla were to come to India and open their bookings for their vehicle, they would probably land up getting 100,000 cars booked in the first day itself," says Piyush Goyal

"It was a stupid thing, instead of making the product much more affordable, we were waiting for a future subsidy, there was no manufacturing. First file I signed was removing the subsidy much against the wishes of the bureaucracy," says Union Minister Piyush Goyal

Subsidies are okay just to kickstart something to give initial thrust. Any industry that expects to remain subsidised beyond the initial few years can never be successful, says Piyush  Goyal
