DGCA orders airlines to inspect fuel switch of their Boeing 787 fleet after Air India crash preliminary report

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), on July 14 ordered airlines to inspect the fuel switch locking mechanisms on their Boeing 787 fleets.

In an order, the DGCA has asked all Indian airlines to complete the inspection as per the Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) Number: NM 18-33, dated 17th December 2018 before July 21, 2025.

The DGCA order comes just two days after the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on July 12, 2025 came out with its preliminary report into the crash of Air India flight AI 171 which led to the death of around 270 individuals.

Siddaramaiah, Gadkari spar over Shivamogga bridge inauguration

The war of words between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari continues, with the former taking to X to say that he was not consulted before finalising Shivamogga bridge inauguration.

The Karnataka CM said he was informed only three days before the event and he also requested rescheduling the event citing prior commitments.

The remarks by Siddaramaiah comes after a political controversy erupted between the Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party on July 14 with the CM on Monday saying neither he nor his ministers were attending the inauguration of Sigandur bridge at Sagara taluk in Shivamogga. Read more

Countdown to homecoming: Shubhanshu Shukla, Axiom-4 mission crew to return to earth; Dragon spacecraft undocks from ISS

The Axiom-4 mission, featuring Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, is set to undock from the International Space Station.

According to CNN-News18, the Dragon spacecraft has successfully undocked from the International Space Station and it will splash down 22 hours after of undocking.

His mother, Asha Shukla, told ANI, "It feels good, we are all very happy. We prayed that they all come back safely. We are very excited to meet our son after 18-20 days. We are very proud of our son."

Cartoonist agrees to delete 'objectionable post' on PM Modi after SC questions it

The Supreme Court on July 14 orally rebuked  and questioned an Indore-based cartoonist Hemant Malviya who has been booked over objectionable comments and a cartoon on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the RSS, saying that his conduct was inflammatory and immature.

During the hearing, after the Court expressed disapproval of the cartoonist's conduct, Advocate Vrinda Grover agreed to delete his post and to make a statement that he was not endorsing the objectionable comments, LiveLaw reported.

14 killed in rain-related incidents across UP in 24 hours

At least 14 people were killed in rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours, according to an official statement issued on Sunday, PTI reported. The fatalities, reported between 8 pm on Saturday and 8 pm on Sunday, were attributed to lightning strikes, drowning incidents, and snake bites, it said.

TMC leader shot dead in Bengal's Birbhum

A 42-year-old Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was shot dead in West Bengal's Birbhum district, and three persons, including two women, were detained in connection with the murder, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred early on Sunday near his residence in Komarpur village in the district when gunmen shot at Piyush Ghosh, the Srinidhipur panchayat president, an officer said.

Delhi CM calls high-level meet to review master plan 2041

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has convened a high-level meeting on Monday to review provisions of the long-pending Master Plan for Delhi (MPD) 2041, officials said. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had submitted the draft plan to the Centre in April 2023. However, it is yet to be approved by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Gujarat govt sanctions new bridge parallel to collapsed structure in Vadodara

Days after the Mahisagar river bridge collapse tragedy in Vadodara district, the Gujarat government has approved the construction of a parallel two-lane bridge and approved Rs 212 crore for the project-related work. Several vehicles plunged into the Mahisagar river after a segment of the 40-year-old bridge near Gambhira village, connecting Anand and Vadodara districts, collapsed on July 9.
