Jharkhand ministers full list 2024: The council of ministers of the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand took oath on Thursday with Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administering the oath to 11 ministers at the Raj Bhavan in capital Ranchi. The swearing-in ceremony began with Stephen Marandi, the Protem Speaker, taking the oath. Marandi, a senior JMM MLA, was appointed Protem Speaker of the Assembly after Soren took oath as the chief minister on November 28. Following Marandi's oath, 11 newly elected MLAs were sworn in as ministers.

The cabinet expansion comes days after the election results showed the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance achieved a comfortable majority in the state, winning 56 of the 81 seats in the state while the Opposition NDA could garner only 25 seats. The JMM emerged as the single largest party, winning 34 seats, the Congress bagged 16, the Rashtriya Janata Dal 4 and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) 2 seats.

The victory for the JMM-Congress-RJD combine came despite a spirited campaign by the Opposition NDA, particularly the BJP which aggressively raised the issue of corruption and infiltration of Bangladeshis in the state. The BJP had alleged that the demography of key tribal regions in the state had been altered due to the illegal infiltration carried out under Soren's watch. However, the results showed that a majority of the people in the state remained unimpressed with the BJP's agenda and reposed their faith in Hemant Soren as Chief Minister.
