IGL has announced a price reduction, a day after Mahanagar Gas (MGL), decreased CNG prices by Rs 2.5 per kg, now priced at Rs 73.50 per kg. The reduction in prices is attributed to a decline in gas input costs, as stated by the company.
A month following Oil Minister Hardeep Puri's update to the Rajya Sabha on February 5, where he informed about the government's ongoing efforts to regulate compressed natural gas prices, both MGL and IGL have announced a reduction.
Puri informed the Rajya Sabha on February 5 that the government is making constant efforts to bring the prices of compressed natural gas under control and has delinked Indian gas prices from four international hubs based in the US, Canada, the UK and Russia, and aligned them to the Indian crude basket.
And, responding to supplementary during the Question Hour, he said the government is encouraging consumption of compressed natural gas as it is relatively a cleaner fuel.
