A family in the Dhani Bhojraj village of Fatehabad district in western Haryana made the headlines as they welcomed their 11th child, a baby boy. But what took social media by storm is that the family welcomed the boy after having ten daughters.
While the family was ecstatic, the news quickly sparked debate on the internet, with many calling the situation a stark example of patriarchy.
Sanjay, a daily-wage labourer, welcomed his 11th child after 10 daughters and said, "After 19 years, my mother's wish is fulfilled. My eldest daughter studies in Class 12."
The father said his eldest daughter, Shrina, is studying in Class 12, followed by Amrita in Class 11. He went on to name several others, but was unable to recall all his daughters’ names. "Sometimes I forget," he said, according to a report by The Times of India.
Jind, Haryana: A woman has given birth to her 11th child - a BOY, after having 10 daughters. The Govt should take away all 11 children; these parents clearly aren't fit to raise them. pic.twitter.com/X8fneVnJAK— Dr Ranjan (@AAPforNewIndia) January 6, 2026
He also spoke of dreams of making his son an officer but shared no such plan for his daughters. This moment stunned viewers and quickly went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the doctor, Santosh, who handled the delivery of the baby said the baby suffered from low amniotic fluid while the mother's haemoglobin level was just 5 grams. Despite complications, the woman delivered a healthy baby boy.
However, the doctor strictly warned against repeated pregnancies and said, "“They pose serious risks to both mother and child. I strongly advise families not to opt for a third child, let alone 11."
After clips from the interview circulated online, several social media users expressed anger and concern for the well-being of the children and the mother. Some questioned the parents’ responsibility, while others highlighted how patriarchal attitudes place the physical and emotional burden of repeated childbirth on women.
A user shared the interview of the man and wrote, “A woman has given birth to her 11th child – a BOY, after having 10 daughters. The government should take away all 11 children; these parents clearly aren’t fit to raise them."
Another reacted, “Men’s obsession with having a “boy" is so deep that a woman’s body becomes a trial-and-error machine. 10 daughters weren’t enough. One son finally arrives and suddenly society wakes up. This isn’t culture. This isn’t tradition. This is insecurity, entitlement, and zero accountability. Stop blaming women for births. Start questioning men who can’t accept daughters."
An account commented, “Sick mentality. It’s actually more because of the pressure from the elders in the family. I have seen this kind of mentality even in rich & educated families. So this isn’t surprising at all."
