Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is likely to issue a detailed statement on India-US trade deal at 3.30 pm in Parliament, according to several media reports.

Earlier today, during a debate on the discussion on motion of thanks to the President's Address, Leader of the House (Rajya Sabha), JP Nadda said that the government will issue a detailed statement on the India-US trade deal.

Assuring the house, Nadda said the government is ready to divulge all the minute details of the deal and is ready to partake in a discussion on the deal. Nadda categorically stated that the concerned minister will issue a detailed statement with all the details concerning the deal.

Condemning the opposition's behavior, the former BJP chief said their frustration is palpable as they fail to appreciate a historic trade deal as the one announced last night.

US President Donald Trump announced a trade deal between India and the United States on Monday, adding that the US reciprocal tariffs on India would be slashed to 18 per cent.

"Out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi and, as per his request, effective immediately, we agreed to a Trade Deal between the United States and India, whereby the United States will charge a reduced Reciprocal Tariff, lowering it from 25 per cent to 18 per cent," Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social.

Informing the house on India-US trade deal, Nadda said: Last night US President Donald Trump in a tweet communicated the reduction of tariffs on Indian goods to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he has also mentioned about the friendship shared by both the leaders. After Trump's tweet, PM Modi responded to the tweet and thanked him on behalf of all Indians.
