Counting has begun for the Erode bypoll election at the Government Engineering College. Officials have taken up postal votes first. Chandhirakumar VC is the DMK candidate and NTK has fielded MK Seethalakshmi. Other candidates in the contest are BPAP's M Arumugam and MJK's Anand Subramani among others. AIADML, DMDK, BJP and TVK have bycotted the poll.

Erode Election Result: Chandhirakumar lead close to 50,000 votes

At the end of the ninth round of counting, DMK's VC Chandhirakumar recorded 61,683 votes, establishing a massive lead of 48,240 votes over MK Seethalakshmi of NTK, who garnered 13,443 votes. The NOTA option received 3,020 votes.
