BJP fields Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar

The BJP on January 11 released its second list of 29 candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls, fielding Kapil Mishra, a former AAP leader now identified with hardline Hindutva politics, from Karawal Nagar.

It has fielded Harish Khurana, son of former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, from the Moti Nagar constituency.

With the second list, the party has so far named candidates for 58 seats for the elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly.

The Aam Aadmi Party has held power in Delhi since 2015, achieving landslide victories in two consecutive Assembly elections. However, it has not been able to secure a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections since 2014, with the BJP sweeping all seven.

Delhi has 1,55,24,858 voters who are eligible to cast their ballot in the coming elections. The electoral roll includes 83,49,645 male voters, 71,73, 952 female voters and 1,261 third gender voters.

The term of the current Assembly expires on February 23

The elections are scheduled to be held on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8.
