The murder of a 32-year-old civil services aspirant in north Delhi earlier this month has taken a shocking turn, with investigators revealing that a hard disk recovered from the victim’s flat contained private videos of at least 15 women. Police said the content points to a disturbing fetish that ultimately led to his murder.
The charred body of the victim, identified as Ram Kesh Meena, was discovered on October 6 after a massive fire broke out in his Timarpur apartment. What initially appeared to be an accident soon turned into a cold-blooded murder investigation.
Three weeks later, police arrested Meena’s live-in partner, Amrita Chauhan, her ex-boyfriend, Sumit Kashyap, and their common friend, Sandeep Kumar, for allegedly killing Meena and staging the fire to cover up the crime.
During interrogation, Amrita confessed that she conspired to kill Meena because he had secretly recorded her private videos and stored them on a hard disk. Despite her repeated requests, Meena allegedly refused to delete them. Recovering the hard disk became one of the key motives behind the killing.
Investigators later found that the device contained objectionable videos of several other women, most likely recorded and stored without their consent.
Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ravindra Yadav told NDTV that Amrita and Sumit feared Meena might circulate her private videos online, prompting them to plot his murder.
According to police, the murder took place late on October 5, when Sumit and Sandeep allegedly assaulted and choked Meena to death. To destroy evidence, they poured oil, ghee, and wine on the body before setting the flat on fire to make it look like an accident.
The investigation into the recovery of the hard disk and its contents is ongoing, as police seek to identify and contact the women whose videos were found on the device.
